A find should
earn its place.
Secret Homes Abroad looks for the intersection of exceptional design, a compelling asking price and enough reliable information to take the next step.
What makes the cut
Something special
Architecture, landscape, craftsmanship or history that makes you stop and imagine a different life.
A compelling proposition
A €60,000 restoration can surprise us. So can a $800,000 architectural retreat. We look at what the asking price offers: setting, space, finish and distinctive features.
An honest picture
A traceable source, a recent check and explicit notes on the unknowns.
Our internal selection threshold
Our editorial rubric totals 100 points: visual impact and character (30), the proposition at the asking price (25), source completeness (20), usability (15), and freshness (10). A score of 80 is the minimum for publication. These scores are editorial judgments, not market valuations or investment ratings.
What “source checked” means
An editor or our pipeline opened the original listing and recorded the asking price and key facts. It does not mean an agent confirmed availability, a survey was performed, or the title was checked. Listings older than seven days are marked for rechecking.
What we leave out
- Listings with ambiguous prices, misleading auction guides or unexplained shares.
- Conflicting location, ownership or size details until clarified.
- Duplicate listings dressed up as new finds.
- Unsubstantiated claims of below-market value, guaranteed returns or residency rights.
Photography and independence
We link to original listing photography. We reproduce photos or create property reels only when appropriate reuse rights are documented. Sellers and agents cannot purchase a higher editorial score.
Start with the source
Always confirm the current price, availability and condition directly with the listing agent. Obtain independent legal, tax and building advice appropriate to the country before committing.
